Frequently
Asked Questions
What
are the Rites of Eleusis?
The Rites
of Eleusis are a series of seven plays
written by Aleister Crowley in 1910 and performed in succession that
year. They are regularly performed by OTO bodies around the world. They
are a modern interpretation of the Ancient Rites celebrated at Eleusis
in Greece. For more information on the Rites check out Practical
Presentation of the Eleusinian Rites
How
did you get started? Why
are you doing the Rites out of order?
That's a long story.
Will
you be doing more of the Rites of Eleusis in the future?
Yes!!! The Rite of Mercury, is scheduled for October of 2010.
Audio samples are available. The Rite of Solis tentatively scheduled
for Summer 2012.
Why
does it take so long between shows?
While the scripts for the Rites of Eleusis are already written, there
is not much blocking or characterization in them. They were intended
to be performed in a more ritual fashion. We analyze the script and
interpret the story, then compose all of the music. Then we begin the
process of finding the cast and producing the show.
